SIGN THE PETITION AGAINST THE THREAT THAT Asian predatory wasp API

V.VELUTINA

Italian Parliament: Urgent Measures against Vespa Velutina, threat to bees

Why is it important

The Asian predatory wasp wasp is a native of Southeast Asia accidentally introduced in France in 2004. It grew rapidly enough to bring down the French beekeeping and its beekeepers have arrived in Italy; from Liguria and Piedmont is rapidly spreading in our area also passively transported in trucks. And 'specializes in the capture of bees which have no defense against this terrible wasp that brings families of bees to collapse. Bees are important animals, two-thirds of the food we consume daily, directly or indirectly, depend on bees and their vital work of pollination. We have to save the bees because it means also save ourselves!
The parliament has to take the most appropriate measures and appropriate to safeguard the bees. The Vespa Velutina also is very aggressive and is a serious threat and timely for the man himself. To learn more, click here!

Vespa Velutina, National Alert!SHARE!

As with the previous article devoted all'Aethina tumida want to let everyone know what's going on in Liguria and Piedmont always in the beekeeping sector. We need the help of all Italians, beekeepers and others, to carry out monitoring, "trapping" and report the nests and specimens of Asian predatory wasp!
The Vespa velutina (henceforth called to shorten VV), also known as "Bumblebee Asian" or "Hornet in yellow legs", is an invasive species of Asian origin. Arrived in France in 2004, it grew rapidly to reach Belgium, Spain, Portugal and, in 2012, in Italy were found specimens in a trap that served as monitoring, while in 2013 arrived in the apiaries.
The Vespa velutina causes serious damage to the hives because the larvae are fed with protein derived from arthropods and in particular by the bees. Also attacks the fruit maturation. May adversely sull'entomofauna generally, and the pollinating insects in particular. It 'very important to know the distribution and dissemination of this species on the Italian territory to perform and program interventions contrast.
In this case, the spread here in Italy took place by land-air, in fact the first case in the EU was reported in France in 2004 from the port of Bordeaux where were found some specimens.
For VV bees are the main source of protein to feed its larvae, while the energy requirement is met mainly by fruit. Precisely for this reason it prefers to allocate near the apiaries where attacks and kills and eats some parts on site, that is close to the apiaries.
If you observe a depopulation of hives caused by the attacks of this wasp is possible that the nest is present within a radius of 300-500 meters, but you have to stop them before they get to the apiaries.
The nests, spherical, can exceed 50 cm in diameter, are located mainly in trees and are difficult to detect because of the color camouflage, but also because it can be built into the ground, then be very dangerous for both adults and children who approach or who may end up in it.
The nest built in the spring called primario.Raggiunto a number of workers, all specimens leave the nest primary to found the nest secondary.
At the end of the summer the young queens fertilized, to get through the winter, leave the nest to hide in cavities repaired; in spring resume its activities, building new nests.
As mentioned in the previous article the bees are important for pollination so for fruits, for vegetables and alfalfa on which they feed to cattle. We are all involved! Both men, both animals!
It is studying a harmonic radar to find any nests VV but this tool if you know something just for next year.
Please share this news, in public, in groups, and even outside of Facebook. We are all involved!
